[10:48:00] <jonas> mahyuddin: hi!
[11:05:14] <mahyuddin> jonas: hi
[11:06:32] <jonas> you want to learn Debian packaging?
[11:06:51] <mahyuddin> yes
[11:07:03] <jonas> what do you want to package?
[11:07:32] <jonas> or
[11:07:57] <jonas> what kinds of packages are you most interested in?
[11:09:49] <mahyuddin> like gimp and other
[11:11:01] <jonas> GIMP and other GNOME applications?  GIMP and other Desktop Publishing application?  GIMP and other bitmap editors?
[11:11:27] <mahyuddin> GIMP and other GNOME applications
[11:12:24] <jonas> ok
[11:13:38] <jonas> best way in my opinion to learn Debian packaging is to follow existing work: join teams, hang out with them on IRC, follow their working style
[11:15:16] <jonas> look at existing packages, maybe adopt an existing one that noone else cares for - but not alone, first join a team and tune into their style of working
[11:15:53] dotcom[guest] joins the room
[11:16:22] <jonas> Here is a list of (some, not all) Debian teams: http:/wiki.debian.org/Teams
[11:16:37] <jonas> Here is a list of (some, not all) Debian teams: http://wiki.debian.org/Teams
[11:21:12] <mahyuddin> ok
[11:24:34] <jonas> I am not in the GNOME team - I don't like GNOME
[11:26:18] <mahyuddin> if other like LXDE
[11:27:03] <jonas> what? Please use more words, what you write is not a full sentence and do not make sense to me
[11:30:23] <mahyuddin> if the packaging is for LXDE, is also the same way
[11:32:40] <jonas> yeah - locate who is working on it already, join that team and offer your help
[11:33:31] <jonas> tell what is your skill level (don't excuse yourself that you are a beginner, but simply tell what is your skills) and what is your interest
[11:34:10] <mahyuddin> ok
[11:39:35] <jonas> example: you need not tell that you are not good at writing english, just try your best at writing, and it is clear to see if you are struggling with it. No need to excuse yourself or warn ahead
[11:39:40] <jonas> :-)
[11:40:11] <jonas> if you are interested in multimedia, then I am in the Multimedia team - and would be happy to work with you there
[11:41:09] <jonas> if you have other more specific interests than "X11 desktop environments" then tell me - I am involved at several places
[11:42:40] <mahyuddin> ok
